WEEK 5: Anticlamactic Carnival

Aye yall. This is my last writing day in the MTC. Next week I'll be able to send pictures (I think) and I'll finally be out in Brasilia!

This letter is a little shorter... Also this keyboard is a little funky so please excuse any typos or anything

TUESDAY

Today was Carnaval. It's a huge celebration in Brazil where people party super hard. Apparently in some places the police have the day off and it's a little bit like the movie Purge. I was expecting crazy things to happen on the streets and stuff but honestly it was super quiet. This must be a calm part of Sao Paulo.

WEDNESDAY

Today was Pday. After the temple we played basketball like all day then met Vianna and his wife for Acai again. I'm in love with Acai. After that we had a super good devotional. I started drawing a lil sketch that I actually really like, I'll send a pic when I'm done. Speaking of pictures the MTC has really beautiful paintings every couple of feet in every hallway. I love them all. My companion and I just walk around and admire them every so often. I'll send pictures of my favorites when I leave the MTC. I love art so much ahhhh.

Some more Brazilian friends leave early tomorrow morning. If it's this hard saying goodbye to friends I've only known for a few weeks I can't even imagine what it'll be like leaving people I've been teaching for months when I transfer to new areas.

THURSDAY

Not much happened today. Sorta random but I've been feeling kind of nostalgic today because I just realized this entire decade comes to an end in nine months. Weird. It's weird to think when the 2010 started I was in fourth grade, now I'm almost 20 years old. Man life flies by.

FRIDAY

It's kind of weird, I've been away from my phone for a little over a month now, and I haven't even noticed. We talked about it today lol and everyone in my district was like woah. None of us miss our phones. The only thing I miss is the ability to google random words every now and then and expand my vocabulary. But honestly I don't miss instagram, snapchat or anything.

SATURDAY

Vianna still continues to amaze me. I wish I could send pics but he shaved his head because someone gave him a bad haircut. It's so funny cuz now he looks exactly like Alex Boye mixed with Dule Hill (Gus from Psych).

SUNDAY

It rains so much here. The crazy is even more bipolar than Arkansas haha all morning it'll be clear skies then out of the blue (literally) there will be a DOWNPOUR. It's super cool but it only lasts for a few minutes. The power goes out like every time. Earlier a big tarp came loose from someone's house and flew into the air and then got stuck on a power line. Then it ripped through it and sparks went flying everywhere. We saw it all from our classroom. Mad stuff

MONDAY

More classes and lots of learning. Pretty sure I know Portuguese a lot better than spanish now. I want to learn French when I get home.
