WEEK 53: One Year Down My Dudes

Image
WEDNESDAY We taught Alceu today. He's the really old guy that can't hear very well. We walked him through a lesson about the Restoration and I tried to yell my words so he could hear me but he still couldn't understand. We ended up just pointing to different sentences in the pamphlet and he read each line out loud for us. When I wanted to say something I typed it on our phone for him to read. He understands Elder Zuniga better cause he's a native speaker, so he just sits at his side and talks right into his ear. It's kinda an interesting scene but hey we're making it work. THURSDAY ONE YEAR TODAY.  A year ago today I arrived in São Paulo at the MTC. Man what a journey since then. Spent the day doing splits within my district. We went up to the mission office so Elder Wilkinson could renew his Visa. I've gotta do that soon too since I've just passed the year mark and mine's almost expired. I guess I'm technically an illegal ...

WEEK 52: "Fala Mais Alto Po!!"

TUESDAY After getting lost for like an hour and a half we finally found Fabio's house. He's a reference from one of the areas in my district and he's a bro for sure. He didn't have much time to today so we just got to know him briefly and marked to pass by another day for a lesson. He's already coming to church Sunday. Other than that today we stumbled upon a huge football (soccer) stadium in the middle of nowhere sitting on top of this big hill. It looked eerie & abandoned but i dragged my companion with me to go explore it. The sun happened to be going down at the same time so when we got to the top we found an amazing view.  It's always nice to take a minute to enjoy nature whatever you're doing throughout the day.  Pics below ⬇️ THURSDAY I'm so proud of Paulo & his fam. They're trying to hard to keep the word of wisdom & they love the cevada I got them. Their car has two flat tires so figuring out how to get to chu...

WEEK 51: The Week Before Week 52

WEDNESDAY The Lojas Americanas store next to our house has a deal for Kit Kats. 6 BARS for 10 Reais, which in american money is a little more than 2$... 6 BARS OF KIT KATS FOR 2$ YOU GUYS. I was super close to buying all the ones they had in stock but realized it'd probably give me heart problems so I just settled with 12. THURSDAY We have a nice hammock in our outside area of our house and I kinda like to unwind on it and play songs on the uke at nights. I guess I was singing kinda loud cuz when I looked up at the apartment complex behind me a few people had their heads out the window just watching me haha. I had a little audience. I'll be taking song suggestions next time. FRIDAY We're teaching a lady who is wayyy into coffee haha so I went ahead and bought her some Cevada, which is similar to coffee but made with different substances. After we tried it out she was like "ya I can switch over to this." Haha that took me by surprise because sh...

WEEK 50: I LOVE BRAZIL

TUESDAY Today just couldn't have gone better. Every single door we knocked on turned into an amazing lesson and we found so many excited people to teach. I don't know where all these amazing, enthusiastic people have been the last few weeks of my mission but I sure am glad we've finally started to find them. We had so much more planned today but we only got half of it done because we spent so much time teaching. We only were able to do two contacts today cause we were so busy haha. These are by far the best kind of days; days where you're running around frantically trying to fit all your teaching appointments in. And on top of that nearly everyone we talked to is super ready for church on Sunday. People we met today are already talking a bunch about it and getting all ready for this Sunday haha. If everyone ends up following through I don't think we'll have enough people with cars to take everyone there and back, but that's a good problem to have ...
