WEEK 9: Truman Show in Pedregal

Image
WOW this has been the fastest week of the mission so far. Monday and Tuesday felt an hour long each, and I don't even know what happened to Wednesday, and now it's P-day all over again. As of this past Saturday I've been out for two months! This week, I didn't write much cuz it literally felt 5 minutes long, so just a few short things this email: MONDAY There are few things in life better than sushi. We went to a sushi buffet for Pday (and Elder Apolinario's birthday) and man it hit the spot. THURSDAY We had zone conference today! I loved the long bus ride to get there. Lots of time to think and enjoy the rollercoaster ride too. I bought a Ukulele today, can't wait to put it to use. My family sent me a package for Easter, had a bunch of Easter decor and a harmonica that I was going to learn how to play. But I LOST the harmonica literally two hours after I opened the case. I think it fell out of my pocket on the bus, so there go my drea...

WEEK 8:Spongebob Tavern and Some More Crazy Buses

Hey all - another week gone by in Pedregal, Brazil. This week didn't have as much success as last because it rained all. day. every. day. But we made the best of it and still found a lot of people interested in hearing about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Here's the day-by-day: TUESDAY Today started out tough. It was raining all day and we were soaked and no one was out on the streets to contact. Most of our appointments fell through. But things got a lot better at night after we taught the Silvas again. This time almost the entire family was here (its a huge family, we don't even know if we've met them all) and we were able to answer all their questions. I was finally able to say a lot of things during the lesson. My portuguese is slowly but surely getting better. I think the Silvas are coming to church this Sunday which is going to be so great.  After that we taught a new family and they seemed really interested. It was nice ending today on a good note. W...

WEEK 7: Meeting Moana's Chicken

Image
WEDNESDAY I'm likin' the field. I have such a great companion who teaches me Portuguese all the time. He's from Sao Paulo. We live in a nice brand-spankin-new apartment which kinda stands out from the surrounding buildings because we're in kinda a poor area. We taught a family yesterday and they literally had 5 pets: three cats, a bunny, and a skinny little chicken... hahah the chicken was hilarious. It ran around the house squawking while we taught because one of the cats kept chasing it. It looked exactly like that chicken from Moana. I like that family. They are getting baptized this Saturday. The kids are so energetic and enthusiastic. THURSDAY I'm loving how things are going here. Literally everyone is willing to here our message. I love Pedregal. We hardly have any money though haha so we rely solely on members to feed us our meals. Today we met a feller named Domingos, which translates to "Sundays". lol we asked him if he...
