WEEK 20: Saving Souls (and a Cat...)

Image
TUESDAY Today at Lidiane's we watched a movie over the Restoration. I love this movie, I think anyone reading this should watch it. If you've got an hour to spare just watch it below, you'll be glad you did. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xVw6PsSinI    WEDNESDAY Today on our way out the door we saw some lump on the ground by the street. We got closer and saw that a cat had gotten its head stuck in an aluminum can overnight and passed out because it couldn't breathe. Anyways it took a little work but we got its head unstuck and it woke up and sprinted away. It was so confused haha. Not gonna lie, work today was slow and today was just a drag. It happens. Some days are just fantastic and others, like today, you have 17 lessons planned and all of them fall through but two, so the whole day is spent in the dusty streets walking under the hot brazillian sun. At least we talked to a lot of people on the streets as we walked and I talke...

WEEK 19: Water Outage & PIPA SEASON!

MONDAY Wow today was cool. We taught a super long lesson about the Gospel of Jesus Christ with Lidiane & her family. (Sidenote: I LOVE THIS FAMILY) My comp and I had planned to invite them to baptism this lesson, and honestly we had no clue how. I had never done it before alone because I'm new, and I think my comp was a little nervous. So after we had talked with them for a while I just opened up and said something like "So we've been teaching you guys for a while now and you've heard us say a lot of things. You've heard me, Elder Rudger, and now Elder Christensen testify that we know these things are true. You said you've felt peace with these things and that you've prayed to know if what we're saying is real. So what do you feel about this?" They said they knew that all the things we were saying were true. The spirit was really strong. So after this I invited them to be baptized by the authority of God next week and they said yes. I w...

TUESDAY My companion is Elder Christensen now. He's from Virginia. He likes to work a lot which is good. ---------------- THURSDAY I've been real busy this week. Because I know the area well I've been doing all the planning for lessons and pulling a lot of the weight. I'ts mega-stressful but I'm learning a lot. A lot of time-management skills and conversation skills from starting conversations with people all day. This week Maria Eduada visited Edinaldo's house. She's his niece I think. One day out of the blue she up and moved to Recanta, some city far away, and Rudger and I had no idea. We were sad because she was progressing super well and loved the Book of Mormon. I'm way glad she visited this week, we were able to give her another copy because her other one got wet, and she and Agatha promised they'd read it. I told Maria Eduarda goodbye (cuz she's heading back to Recanta tomorrow) and she and her grandmother promised to ...

WEEK 17: Power Outage & Transfer Day

TUESDAY People like to hang their clothes on barbed wire in their yard sometimes to dry them, and the barbed wire seems like its always exactly at eye level for me. I used to not notice it and come super close to some bad eye damage but now I'm used to them. I'm always ducking here because nothing is meant for my height. WEDNESDAY This transfer is about over so this week we're working a lot with those who are planning to be baptized soon. They are all progressing pretty well. We started teaching Barbara again after about a month of not seeing her. She's been real busy with college and thought we'd already been transferred but she said she'll be at church and wants to continue meeting. THURSDAY Yeah so turns out no one's been paying the electricity bill in our house so last night we came home to total darkness. We figured things out with the electrical company but it looks like it'll be about another 24 hours until they can turn it back ...
