WEEK 10: Cat Whispering and Guac
TUESDAY
1) A street in Pedregal
Today was a nice change of pace. We had splits today (we changed up companionships) and I spent the day and night in Valparaiso with my district leader. He's a cool guy.
We visited a family for dinner, and the mom was soooo energetic. The whole night she asked me question after question about myself, my family, about America etc. She talked so fast, it was like a rapid-fire interrogation. It was pretty stressful BUT oddly enough my portuguese got like 40% better just from that night. It was the weirdest thing but that conversation helped me understand locals soo much better.
WEDNESDAY
Today I was back in Pedregal. Every couple of days we keep trying to reach someone we met on the street but they've been busy every time, except tonight we FINALLY were able to come in and teach them the basics of prayer and the restoration. It went so so well, better than I ever would've thought. BUT... the family is moving across Brazil on Friday. 🙃
So I think we're going to try to teach them one more lesson and contact the missionaries that are serving where they're moving to.
THURSDAY
Nothing super extraordinary happened today except I discovered my companion is a cat-whisperer. We were walking down a road at night and saw this white, stray cat so my comp started making this "shwee shwee" sound to call it. It came to us, and so did another from behind a bush. He kept making the sound and gradually some more strays started making their way towards us. So we had a little gang of stray cats walking with us for a little bit with my comp as the ringleader. Crazy stuff goin' down in brazil
FRIDAY
For some reason drunk people love coming up and talking to us on the streets haha. Yesterday a shirtless guy who was drunk at 2pm stumbled up to us and started professing his love for God and how God loves everyone even Americans. We chuckled and were like "Yeah man!" & escorted him back to his house but left him with a paper invite to church. He said he wants us to stop by another day so we'll just come by and see how he's doing next week. Hopefully he'll be sober but we'll see.
Oddly enough the drunk people are easier to understand than normal people because they talk so much slower.
SATURDAY
Today we found out the family we taught earlier actually isn't going to move anymore so we'll continue teaching them. I'm optimistic about them.
SUNDAY
We made guacamole and tacos at a member's house tonight. It was SO GREAT because I've missed Mexican food so much since I've been away from home. Also there was a guy there who spoke English decently well. We talked about our favorite Netflix shows for a while.
MONDAY
Rudger & I ran in the wilderness of Pedregal this morning. It was so cool. The nature here is sooo so pretty. Running through it all made me miss camping as a kid. I'd love to float the Buffalo right now.
PICS:

3) This doll's names is Naginie. It was at the Silva's house. I just love the names (and random dolls everywhere) people have here haha.
