WEEK 11: Summiting Mount Pedregal
TUESDAY
Just a random thought today: Every now and then it kinda hits me that THIS YEAR I`ll be twenty years old. That just doesn`t make any sense.)
WEDNESDAY
We started teaching some really neat people today. This one family (I didn`t catch their last name) was suuuper friendly and asked super good questions. They had the funniest little dog I`ve ever seen in my entire life. I wish I had a video of it. It was a tiny box-shaped dog with stubby legs and no neck and when it walked it didn`t bend any joints. It wobbled. It was so stiff and panted so hard you could hear it from the other room. Oh man I wish yall could meet him, I`m gonna find out what breed he is and adopt like four when I get home.
THURSDAY
We have Coke every day for every meal. It`s all anyone drinks here besides Guarana occasionally. The other day I found out why Coke is so much better in Brazil than in the states. It has a secret ingredient in it that gives it more flavor, but it`s banned in the States because apparently it causes cancer. So that`s fun.
FRIDAY
We finally visited Ruy today. He`s a guy we met a few weeks ago sitting outside of a gym by our house. He's way cool & is learning English and has a super dope mustache like a french villain from a movie. We found out he`s ACTUALLY married (which isn't common here; people usually move in with their S.O.'s and start raising a family without ever getting legally married) and he's 23 so he's definitely one of a kind. On P-day he's gonna take us running up one of the mountains of Pedregal. I'm super excited to get some good pictures.
SATURDAY
Today we visited the family again with THE DOG today. I got some pics but they don't do it justice. It reminds me a lot of the live-action Winnie the Pooh from the Christopher Robin movie this past summer.
We had a looot of people commit to coming to church tomorrow. I hope they are able to show up. They seemed sincere and tomorrow is Easter Sunday so I bet we'll have a good turnout.
