WEEK 23: WINTER IS COMING.
Greetings gente,
TUESDAY
We've been spending a lot of time with families who haven't been to church in a while. I especially love one family who lives on a dirt road in the outskirts of Pedregal. Not everyone has had the missionary lessons in their fam so we retaught them the Restoration, and it really meant a lot to them. It's going to be so great to see their family in church this Sunday.
WEDNESDAY
It's definitely winter here now. Don't get me wrong, it's still scorching hot in the day, but at nights and the early morning it actually gets pretty cold. I'm glad I've got a blanket.
People here are really sensitive to the cold though. It's funny to see little kids dressed up in parkas and thermal hats when it's 60 degrees out.
THURSDAY
So Ruy owns a huge gym in Pedregal and it has a lot of visitors each day so I thought it'd be a good idea to put some of our pass-along cards that have information about church on the front desk for people to pick up. Ruy always reports back to me about them, like how many people took a card with them or looked at it haha. We already got a new investigator because of it. Ruy's almost as effective a missionary as we are.
FRIDAY
Yeah nothing really happened today
SATURDAY
We said a lil goodbye to Ruy and he and his wife made us some seashell necklaces. He made two for my lil bros too so I'll send them home sometime.
SUNDAY
We received our transfers today. So after telling everybody in Pedregal goodbye I'm gonna be staying yet another transfer here hahaha. It'll be great, I was ready to go but I'm fine spending a little more time with the great people here.
I'm gonna be training this transfer.... lol I just barely finished missionary training myself and now it's time for me to turn around and show a new american missionary the ropes. His name is Elder McClade or something I think. It'll be a big learning experience; I'm excited.
Elder Christensen is going to be a district leader in Palmas. Palmas is the hottest and farthest place you can be in this mission. For a US comparison, if Pedregal is Arkansas, Palmas is like Wyoming.
So I'm excited to see what this transfer holds haha. I'll meet my new companion tomorrow.
PICS:
1-4) Some more obligatory views of the Pedster
1-4) Some more obligatory views of the Pedster
5) Elder Xavier and I. He's leaving this area which is gonna be sad.
