WEEK 40: 20 Years Old

TUESDAY
The sun. is. hot.

WEDNESDAY
We had a family night at a part-member family's house. The spiritual thought went really well. It was mostly about the importance of families; how each of us has a family to love, support, and teach us while we're young. Then when we're older we put everything into practice and have families of our own. It's all part of God's plan to help us progress and improve throughout this life.

We wore Christmas hats and of course sat around and sang songs with my uke. Never gets old.

THURSDAY
We had been feeling pretty sad about one of our investigators recently who was progressing sooo much but all of the sudden stopped answering our calls and ignored our texts. He wasn't home anymore when we stopped by.
Tonight as we were finishing up the day I thought we should go stop by again and see if he was at home. Maybe we could stop by and mark a time to visit again.
We walked by his house and he was sitting in the living room! So we clapped and he welcomed us in and told us his phone had been broken all week and he wanted to contact us but had no way to. He's super excited for baptism and is teaching his girlfriend about the Gospel too. It's been a huge burden off our backs knowing that he's still applying himself and excited about the Gospel.

FRIDAY
It was dark and rainy all day today and nobody was on the streets. We walked a few miles in the rain to our appointments but every single one of them fell through. The same thing happened with the other Elders. We were all really down in the dumps so we hiked over to Burger King to cheer us up.
It definitely did the trick haha Burger King is questionable in the USA but in Brazil it's fine dining. We also met this group of friends about our age there and invited them to church.

The rain brought out THOUSANDS of these weird ash-looking bugs that all swarmed the streets. We had to dodge them as we walked.

SATURDAY
Looks like its officially fall season in the states. I've been using my pumpkin spice chapstick to get all festivy.

I've started to learn French with Duolingo. My goal is to be almost fluent in that too when I get back. French is DOPE.

Tomorrow's my birthday so I've spent the majority of today singing Twenty Tomorrow by Ben Rector.

SUNDAY
Today was so great. The primary threw a party for me after the primary program with a bunch of chocolate cake. That night some members threw a second party with even more cake after a choir rehearsal.
Then after that we came home and made some tacos to celebrate. Not many people know what tacos are here so it was hard to find the ingredients but they turned out to be sooo good. I was stuffed, and a happy 20 year old.

Au revoir les amis,
Elder Young
