WEEK 59: And That's a Wrap

Image
*This email was supposed to send on Monday but it sent late. I have arrived home safe and sound* Wow this week has left me speechless. So much has happened in such little time. We went from business as usual on Tuesday to reduced proselytizing time on Wednesday to quarantine on Friday to shorter mission times on Saturday and then officially sending missionaries home on Sunday. Sooo I've packed all my bags and I'm heading over to the office to get my ticket to Sao Paulo and then LAX and then Dallas and then Arkansas. What can I say... I love Brazil. I'll always cherish the memories and friends and stories I experienced here. I didn't realize it was going to be this hard to say these goodbyes and leave this beautiful country behind. A part of me is definitely still in Brazil.  But hey, that's life. Things change in an instant and we learn to adapt. Throughout these events this past week, I've been thinking a lot about D&C Section 4, whic

WEEK 57: Thar's Cristals in Them Hills

TUESDAY Today was dope because we did a district-wide blitz down in Cristalina to help out with their branch. Cristalina is known for having random crystals all over the streets. That's where it gets the name. My whole district took a bus down there and we did a bunch of contacts and taught a bunch of people. It was a lot of fun to have all 8 Elders in one house too. It was like a big middle school sleepover. WEDNESDAY Lots of good lessons. I filled up Paulo's USB drive with a bunch of church videos, movies and conference talks that he can plug into his tv and watch whenever. I think it's gonna be great for them. We're progressing well with this one family who lives by where our new house is gonna be. It's funny because the dad is super interested in us and in the church but the mom is super into Assembleia de Deus and always talks about her church so that creates a lot of funny conversations in their house. The mom will say something praising Assemblei

Lots of stuff went down this week, buckle up gente. MONDAY Today. Was. Phenomenal. I got special permission from my zone leader to spend my pday in Pedregal, my first area, and visit some old investigators and friends. And man was it incredible. First we visited my dude Ruy, who was kinda the main reason for the trip. We went to our favorite waterfall and just kinda hang out for a while. He mentioned how he wants to get baptized in the US when he comes to visit. We'll see how that plays out. Then we passed by Daiane's house and I said hi to Aline and Marrom. Man I loved teaching that family so much. Then I said goodbye to Ruy and we headed over to Suzane's house. She happened to be at work but her kids and mom were home so we sat around and caught up on what's been going on for the past 7 months. Lastly, we hit up Eugenia's house. It wasn't really the best timing because the whole family was mourning the death today of someone really close who di
