WEEK 57: Thar's Cristals in Them Hills

TUESDAY
Today was dope because we did a district-wide blitz down in Cristalina to help out with their branch. Cristalina is known for having random crystals all over the streets. That's where it gets the name. My whole district took a bus down there and we did a bunch of contacts and taught a bunch of people. It was a lot of fun to have all 8 Elders in one house too. It was like a big middle school sleepover.

WEDNESDAY
Lots of good lessons. I filled up Paulo's USB drive with a bunch of church videos, movies and conference talks that he can plug into his tv and watch whenever. I think it's gonna be great for them.
We're progressing well with this one family who lives by where our new house is gonna be. It's funny because the dad is super interested in us and in the church but the mom is super into Assembleia de Deus and always talks about her church so that creates a lot of funny conversations in their house. The mom will say something praising Assembleia and the dad will immediately shoot it down and compliment us.
I hope they keep coming to church because they'd really enjoy it once they're more integrated.

THURSDAY
We got a baptismal date with someone named Graça that we thought wasn't ever going to progress. That was really nice. We're excited to keep working with her.

FRIDAY
I planned to do splits with Jardim Inga today to do a baptismal interview, but it turns out the zone leaders also planned to do splits with us today so we ended up doing splits within splits and the three companionships were all mixed together for a day.
They had an electric organ at the family's house where we were doing the interview. It was dooope and we had a lot of fun singing and playing.

SATURDAY
Spentamos most of today riding the bus. It rained so much the highway flooded and our bus essentially turned into a boat cuz the water was so high. But eventually we got to Occidental to undo our splits with the zone leaders.

SUNDAY
Lots of lessons, lots of sun, and lots of new people today. To top it all off we had a family night at Cida's house (an awesome member). A lot of people came and Zuniga and I had to give the message last minute haha. So as we all sang the opening hymn of the family night we planned out our message. We decided to play telephone, where each person repeats a given phrase by whispering it in their neighbor's ear until it becomes too distorted to recognize. We used that as an example to teach about apostasy, what happens when doctrines are left alone for centuries without a prophet or priesthood to guide them. Then we used that as a way to teach about living prophets and how we need one today just as the people in biblical times needed one. It was a super last minute lesson but it actually turned out way better than we'd hoped haha
