WEEK 9: Truman Show in Pedregal

WOW this has been the fastest week of the mission so far. Monday and Tuesday felt an hour long each, and I don't even know what happened to Wednesday, and now it's P-day all over again.

As of this past Saturday I've been out for two months!

This week, I didn't write much cuz it literally felt 5 minutes long, so just a few short things this email:

MONDAY
There are few things in life better than sushi. We went to a sushi buffet for Pday (and Elder Apolinario's birthday) and man it hit the spot.

THURSDAY
We had zone conference today! I loved the long bus ride to get there. Lots of time to think and enjoy the rollercoaster ride too.
I bought a Ukulele today, can't wait to put it to use.

My family sent me a package for Easter, had a bunch of Easter decor and a harmonica that I was going to learn how to play. But I LOST the harmonica literally two hours after I opened the case. I think it fell out of my pocket on the bus, so there go my dreams of being the next Billy Joel.

MONDAY
This morning Elder Rudger and I went on a long run and we found the weirdest thing. So right outside the city limits of Pedregal there's this Utopia-looking area called "Greenville". It looks super American and there were nice paved sidewalks and friendly people everywhere watering the grass and stuff. It was like the set of the Truman Show.
It's so strange because none of the other missionaries have even heard of this place, but its seriously like someone cut out a piece of America and stuck it next to the favelas of Pedregal. Super bizarre.
There's this modern-looking research lab on top of one of the mountains in Greenville. Kinda had a Jurassic Park vibe to it. We were gonna go explore it but there's a fence surrounding it. But yeah weird stuff. I'll have to bring my camera next time we go.

We FINALLY cleaned out our trash room today...
Sooo our apartment is new and the workers that moved in all our furniture left a lot of the boxes behind in one of our rooms. We started using that room as the "trash room" cuz we have no garbage cans and the pile got really big. We finally brought down all the trash today though so all is well.

PICS
1) Celebrating Elder Apolinario's birthday at a family's house.
2) Our pet Easter bunny Ingrid
3) Our beloved trash room before we cleaned it
