WEEK 15: Zone Training and More Exploring
TUESDAY
One of those days again I guess. We knocked on 12 people doors for appointments and only two were home.
We had a ward activity and played futebol at the church. Turns out the ward is starting up a weekly futebol night. I'm so pumped, it's so fun playing soccer here, everyone's so good.
WEDNESDAY
Today was Elder Rudger's birthday. We bought him a lil cake to celebrate (pic attached).
Later that night at a member's house one of our Elders had a medical emergency, so we rushed him to the hospital & spent most of the night there with him. Thankfully he's totally fine now but it was definetely a scary night.
THURSDAY
Today we had a multi-zone conference, so I got to see some of my friends from the MTC as well as old ones from last transfer. I'm able to understand portuguese now, but it takes a whole lot of focus for me to do so, so that conference left me pretty drained. 6 hours of non-stop portuguese.
FRIDAY
Today we helped the Elders in Occidental move because their place has a whole bunch of water damage or something. They lived at the top of a four story building so that was fun hauling fridges & dressers & beds down lol.
Graziele had her baptismal interview; she's getting baptized tomorrow. Apparently I'm singing at it haha I just found out.
Afterwards we went to Bianca & Taenara's and they committed to baptism as well. I'm excited for them, they're progressing really well and are getting a lot out of the Book of Mormon. We told them to keep track of any questions they have and we can answer them each appointment, so every time without fail Taenara pulls out her little notebook and we answer her questions one by one. I really enjoy teaching this way and it's awesome to see how engaged she is with her learning.
Oh also their dog, Zelda, had quadruplets earlier today. They're soo so small haha.
Eles são muito fofo. (pic attached)
SATURDAY
We were planning on having Graziele's baptism today, but when we came to pick her up her drunk step-dad came to the door and said she wasn't ready for baptism. This was the first time we had even seen the guy; he's not exactly involved in their lives. We talked with them for a bit and finally I asked Graziele, "Do you feel like you're ready?"and she said yes, but her step-dad just kept saying nah not today. So we rescheduled it for next Saturday.
SUNDAY
Today was probably my favorite day so far. ALL of our lessons today went so so well and out of the blue we saw some old friends that we haven't talked to in a while. We asked if we could stop by this week to converse and they said that'd be great. One of them is finally getting civily married, which is great because most people here just live with each other and never get it civily certified. Today was a blessing.
Also Happy Birthday to Blake!
MONDAY
This morning we hiked through a mini jungle. I LOVED it. I think in another life I was meant to be a conquistadore. It's so fun to explore this place.
We went with Ruy cause he lives right by the mountain. He knows another trail we'll take next Pday.
