WEEK 44: ´Tis The Season GENTE

TUESDAY
We put up our Christmas decor today, mostly a bunch of stuff a member gave us, and MAN is our house purty. Shimmy on down to the pics to see some Christmasy perfection.

WEDNESDAY
We had a really good lesson today with a new family and gave a blessing to the mom's dad, who's sick with prostate cancer. It was a new experience, explaining what a blessing is to this family we had only just met. I hope they'll come to church. Nowadays the problem isn't finding people to teach, it's just getting them to realize how important it is to come to church on Sunday. People be gettin lazy on us.

THURSDAY
We went to visit an awesome contact we made the other day but when we got there she told us she's leaving for Pará until January... so we were kinda bummed. Then we met her neighbor, who apparently was baptized when she was 15 but had all but forgotten about it til she recognized us. She's about 40 now, but as we talked she seemed to remember the things she learned as a teen. She seemed really excited to talk to us again this Saturday. I love reactivating people who haven't been to church in a while. When we're successful in bringing them back, it's honestly more fulfilling than a baptism to me.

FRIDAY
Today was #BLESSING because our zone leaders came up and did splits with us. It has been sooo long since we've seen another missionary's face besides the other companionship in Araguaína. I love being around zone leaders and superiors because I learn so much from everything they do. The way they teach, the guidance they give, the perspectives they bring. It helps me realize I can always improve and to never be complacent. I really value having mentors.

We hit up the BK to wrap up the day and that's always a big ole treat.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY
We've been busy meeting lots of people, AND they're people who are actually progressing and listening. Keeping commitments etc.
A lady came to church today who I think will get baptized soon.
Today we finally met up with a guy that works at the supermarket next to our house and taught him the Restoration. He's a bro. We get along real well. I think he'll start coming to English class too.

Mais uma semana chicizão,
Elder Young

PICS:
1) Christmasy perfection
2) Christmasy planner for December
3) Burger King with the zone leaders
4) Every day at noon this man makes a bunch of weird calls to nearby pigeons and feeds them corn. He has conditioned them all to come at the sound of his voice. Kind of impressive and also kind of worrying cuz he's got a little pigeon army.
5 & 6) Pretty pics from the 'zil
7) Açai date with the zone leaders
8) Elder Apaza schemin
9) Elder França in front of a french-flag-looking building to celebrate his namesake. (França means France)
10-12) Some pics from last week I forgot to send of our Thanksgiving (and late birthday) dinner
